What I'm getting from this is that you think the whole "service with a smile" is a classic put-on in North America. False, by any other name, and well, what we'll refer to as an interest of some kind, done because business owners need the cash, and customers enjoy the stroke. That people out here (or in societies like these) sneer and leer is closer to the base human nature that people -- left to their own devices -- would exhibit in the absence of a financial incentive (i.e. "capitalism"). I follow your… by: gtowna when: 2 weeks ago

Remember a year or so ago, when gas prices were a huge deal and we were all enjoying this wacky Utterz service. I just gassed up the car and suddenly felt rather nostalgic. Andy from the Andycast at andycast dot net by: Andycaster when: 6 days ago

I'm using a Macbook Pro so the sound card is ok. It's better than a lot of PC laptop, or desktop in some cases, sound cards but its no Mac Pro. I think I would be ok going to a mixer and then via usb to the Mac. I could also use that mixer later when I upgrade to a better video camera. Christopher M. What kind of mic is that that you are using? I want to get a podcasting Mic and I looked at the Sennheiser e835 and a couple of different Shure microphones. Ant tips. Direct USB connections would be great but I know if I want a good one I'll need a mixer to convert the XLR to USB. by: techchris when: Aug 4th 11am

  • Not on the List to Vote

    4 Nov 2008 | 11:14 am
They 1st checked in the computer - but couldn't find me, then they had to call in to the election offices to confirm I was legit. Then they dragged me back to the line and added my name in the books and let me vote. I got to vote so that's all that really matters. by: Dayngr when: Nov 4th 2pm
  • Double Checking Voter Registration

    4 Nov 2008 | 10:31 am
I wasn't on the list and they couldn't find me in the computer. This was the 1st an only time since I became a registered voter that I had any trouble. They had to send me over to the phone girl to call in and check my registration. Notice there's nothing high tech here. Not even a redial button on the phone. In the end, all was verified and ok. by: Dayngr when: Nov 4th 1pm

I wasn't on the list! I had my Voter's Registration card but they didn't have me on the list. I was sent over to the supervisor to see if she could find me in the computer. She couldn't. It was a pretty tense few minutes. by: Dayngr when: Nov 4th 1pm

http://thepaisano.com/…t-mad-men/ Here's a wonderful example of why I love the TV show MAD MEN. Yes, there are many other reasons why people love the show such as the attention to detail about that period of time, the style and fashion of the time, the drama, etc. But for me, it's about the power and love of family. The lead character, Don Draper, had a horrific childhood and struggles to deal with his demons as a father and husband. This scene is a breakthrough for him as he starts to realize what's most important to him in life... not… by: Paisano when: Sep 26th 10pm
